An elephant rests on a heart,
Its trunk blowing doubtful air
Into the system that creates
All anxious thoughts.
Its thick feet press into the soft,
Indentations are filled with blood,
And some offer peanuts,
Making it feel more at home.
Perhaps the organ bonded,
With the weight of the animal,
And now it can’t imagine
That helium could replace it.
It could be time to send it back
To the wild, kiss it goodbye
And hope without its source of supply
It’ll just grow on its own.
